THE RAILWAY CHILDREN…AN ARTISTIC TRIUMPH!

The production of the Musical version of the classic “Nesbitt” story of the Railway Children, was nothing short of a triumph for this largely amateur cast.

Leslie Dale, MNR Director, Public Relations Officer and link person to the Promoters [Dereham’s Open Cast Community Theatre and the Singa-me-jig Academy] said…

“I was very impressed by the Singing, the Acting and the Elocution, which seemed to me to be perfection, despite the weather perils and consequent work arounds, which were flung at the cast during Diamond Jubilee Week.

MNR colleagues also commented very favourably upon what they had seen and heard.

The Artistes’ troupe consisted of adults who attended every performance and three teams of Children. Every one of these actors should be very proud of want they have achieved over the months of rehearsals; for the youngsters, the stage could even become a career.

Being in a Safety Critical Environment has caused deep attention to Health and Safety issues, both by the MNR and the Promoters. I was very pleased to note that the only known casualties were the two tents in the Friday morning gale.

MNR thoughts are now turning to what else might be achieved on our under-utilised eastern platform. Watch this space.”
