Fairhaven Garden Great Bear Hunt

Take your mum to Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden at South Walsham on Mother’s Day, Sunday, March 31 and join the Guided Tree Walk at 11am, highlighting the garden’s glorious ancient trees, or enjoy a stroll through the daffodils and primroses, which are starting to show.

The Great Bear Hunt is back at Fairhaven. Volunteer Andy Usher has carved 10 bears, which are located throughout the garden, next to trees and shrubs. Have fun hunting for the bears and learn about the woodland. Boat trips will also be running on the broad (additional charge).

There is a special menu in the tearoom on Mother’s Day featuring roast beef, supreme of chicken, Andalouse casserole, Chef’s chicken and bacon salad and vegetarian quiche of the day, plus jacket potatoes, sandwiches and soup. Call 01603 270449 to book a table.

Discover the veteran oaks, beech and chestnuts and find out why these ancient trees are so important to the life of the woodland. Tour included in garden entry charge: adult £6.85, concessions £6.60, children £3.95 and free to Fairhaven members and under 5s. Booking advised.

Fairhaven Garden King Oak Tree

Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden is at South Walsham, signposted off A47 at B1140 junction, half way between Norwich and Great Yarmouth.

The garden is open daily 10am to 5pm and on Wednesdays until 9pm from May to the end of August. Free entry to tearoom, provisions shop, gift shop and plant sales.

There is wheelchair access throughout the garden, including a Sensory Garden and an accessible boat for trips on the broad from April to October (additional charge). Visitors requiring special facilities are advised to telephone in advance, mobility scooters available.

Dogs are welcome on leads; small charge to cover poop scoop.
