After an absence of several years, Lowestoft’s Marina Theatre is set to host the return of the prestigious Agatha Christie Theatre Company, with their critically acclaimed production of Agatha Christie’s classic thriller Murder On The Nile.
Murder On The Nile will be presented at the venue for just 5 days from April 10 2012, as part of a major national tour playing predominantly in major cities.
This stylish new version of the classic Christie thriller is produced by Bill Kenwright Ltd and brings an all star cast to the east coast including Kate O’Mara, prolific stage actress and star of such television hits as Dynasty & Bad Girls, Dennis Lill who’s extensive career most recently included ITV’s hit drama The Royal and BBC Television’s Doctor Who, Susie Amy, star of 71 Degrees North & Footballers Wives, Chloe Newsome, who played Coronation Street’s Vicky Macdonald, Ben Nealon fondly remembered from his role in drama Soldier Soldier & 60s pop idol Mark Wynter.
Directed by Joe Harmston, the production promises a host of colourful characters and all the twists and turns of a classic Christie to keep audiences guessing until the final shattering climax!
The story unfolds on board a steamer, cruising under scorching Egyptian sun, where honeymooners Simon Mostyn and his wealthy socialite wife Kay find themselves being pursued by an old flame of the newly-wedded groom. Tragedy strikes and a body is discovered, all fingers point to Simon’s ex-fiancée. However, everything is not what it seems and holidaying cleric Canon Pennefather is drawn into a web of intrigue and deceit as he finds himself on the trail of a ruthless murderer.
