Enjoy a Basket of Flowers at a National Garden Scheme Open Garden this Easter

The first Bank Holiday of the year deserves some special activity planning, so why not get outside and visit a beautiful Norfolk garden this Easter weekend?  Take the children because they go free.

There are two gardens open for the National Garden Scheme on Easter Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.  At Wretham Lodge in East Wretham, IP24 1RL you can wander through a meadow full of fritillaries and seek out Hellebores and a multi-coloured display of tulips in the walled gardens.

Desert World Gardens near Santon Downham , IP27 0TU specialises in tropical and arid plants and has greenhouses packed with fascinating curiosities.

Both gardens display the skill and devotion of their owners. Visitors can find ideas and inspiration for their own garden, or simply relax and enjoy a walk to burn off some chocolate eggs.

George Plumptre, Chief Executive of the National Garden Scheme says: ‘All of the gardens that open their gates for us are very welcoming places. Everyone can enjoy the peaceful setting, delight in their beautiful surroundings, and round the visit off with a refreshing cup of tea. There is also the great satisfaction of knowing that your entrance fee has gone to a very good cause.’

Most National Garden Scheme gardens are privately owned, and the only opportunity to visit these gardening gems is to come along to one of our open days.
