electronic-audio-books

A new catalogue of electronic audio books will be available for Suffolk library users from April 2013.

The new OneClick digital books will be available to download for free for anyone with a Suffolk Library account. The new e-Audio catalogue includes nearly 1,200 UK titles, including a range of literary fiction, romance, historical, crime and non-fiction as well as a collection of children’s books. There are also new titles being added each month and the collection includes bestsellers from Stieg Larsson, David Nicholls and Dan Brown.

e-Audio books are electronic and audible versions of books which people can download like a podcast and listen to. They are ideal for listening to whilst travelling or for people with visual impairments or who cannot read physical books for other reasons.

The new service is being supplied by W.F.Howes, who are one of the main publishers of large-print and spoken word CDs in the UK. All you need to access the collection is a Suffolk Libraries membership number.  Suffolk Libraries already provide free access to a collection of e-Audio books but this new collection provides a wider range of titles.

The e-Audio books can be downloaded to most devices capable of playing MP3 files, including iPod, android phones and tablets, PCs and other mp3 players. Instructions for accessing the books will be available at www.suffolklibraries.co.uk under the eBooks section when the collection goes live on 02 April 2013.

Paul Howarth, Stock Manager at Suffolk Libraries, said: “I’m delighted we’ve been able to add these titles to our catalogue. eBooks and e-Audio books are growing in popularity all the time and are part of a service we provide which many people may not know about. It’s important that we keep up with modern technology and provide books for people in different formats.”
