GoGoHares
Harleston’s Future is leading a campaign to have a Harleston Hare, decorated with swifts and wild animals, in the town centre over the summer. It will form part of GoGoHares, a Norfolk wide scheme to raise money for the local charity, Break and will help put Harleston on the map. There will be a smart phone app and a sticker book encouraging people to visit all 18 hares located around the county, as well as the 50 in Norwich. Here is a detail of the Harleston Hare, painted by ScribblyRoo.
At the time of going to press almost £2500 had been raised towards the total of £5000. The money raised by the auction of all the painted hares in October will enable Break to continue its valuable work with children at risk or with disabilities by providing children’s homes, fostering service and other support.
To donate online search for uk.virginmoneygiving.com , click on Make A Donation and enter GGoHares into the search box. Aylsham and Cromer are also raising money for their own hares so make sure you click on the third box, where it says Bringing the GoGoHares Trail to Harleston. Click in the pale blue box and it will take you to the Harleston page and if you scroll down you will see messages from other people and businesses who have given already. Make your donation, anonymously or not. Or take a donation into the Break shop in Harleston
SPRING FAIR
The next Harleston’s Future event will be a Spring Fair on Saturday 5th May in the Market Place and Exchange Street (9.30am – 3.30pm). In addition to the stalls selling crafts, plants, produce and street food there will be cuddly alpacas, fabulous face painting and Spring songs from Too Many Cooks. Other delights will be a raffle with amazing prizes, home-made toffee apples and Harleston’s very own upcycled flag bags.
