Norfolk art group stages 204th exhibition in Norwich
One of Norfolk’s most established art groups is set to stage its 204th exhibition in Norwich.
Norfolk and Norwich Art Circle will show more than 150 works by its members at the Forum in Norwich this May.
The exhibition will feature new selected artworks and sculptures from members of the group in a variety of mediums, styles and artforms with all art work for sale.
Hazel Pidsley, chairman of Norfolk and Norwich Art Circle, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming many visitors to our exhibition at The Forum. As always, our members have contributed a high quality and great range of new artworks, which have not been exhibited by Norfolk and Norwich Art Circle before.
“We are so thrilled that we have so many members who work in many styles and mediums and have submitted their works to the exhibition for everyone to enjoy.
“I do hope you can come and visit us and share the enjoyment.”
Norfolk and Norwich Art Circle was established in 1885 following Crome & Cotman’s famous Norwich Society of Artists and has included in its membership artists of national and international acclaim such as Alfred Munnings, Edward Seago and Bernard Reynolds.

The group welcomes members of the visual arts from a wide diversity of genres and experience.
It offers regular events including social gatherings, demonstrations and workshops by professionals and a regular life drawing class. It holds two major exhibitions of members’ work each year and all members can submit their work for selection.
The exhibition at The Forum will run from Friday 12th May until Friday 19th May, open from 9am to 5pm daily.
There will be an open preview on Friday 12th May from 6pm until 8pm when various artists will be on hand to speak to visitors about their work. All are welcome.

About Norfolk and Norwich Art Circle
The Circle began as the Norwich Art Circle in 1885, following Crome & Cotman’s famous Norwich Society of Artists.
It acquired its full title about forty years later when it merged with the Woodpeckers Art Club, presided over by Nugent Monck. After this, its members increased dramatically. The NNAC has included in its membership artists of national and international acclaim such as Arnesby Brown, Alfred Munnings, Jeffery Camp, Michael Andrews, Bernard Meadows, Edward Seago, Bernard Reynolds and Ian Houston.
The Circle is open to anyone over the age of 17, who is interested in the practice or appreciation of the visual arts and who has connections with East Anglia. Many members have had formal art training, others pursue drawing, painting, printmaking, or sculpture as a pastime. Others simply enjoy learning more about the subject they have always loved. This wide intake leads to a lively exchange of ideas and techniques, providing influences of mutual benefit.
The Circle is run by a Council democratically elected at its Annual General Meeting. The Council organises the yearly programme, and selects the work for the members’ exhibitions. Each year, one third of the Council retires, and a new Chairman is elected. In this way, every member helps to steer the future of the group.
NNAC is proud of its achievements and its democratic system which has served it well for over one hundred years.
