Norfolk Hospice opens its peaceful garden for the National Garden Scheme. 

One of the many beautiful gardens opening their gates across the county this month for the National Garden Scheme is a special hospice garden created by volunteers is not usually open to the public. The hospice situated near King’s Lynn is opening its garden gates to visitors for the first time. 

THE NORFOLK HOSPICE, TAPPING HOUSE, HILLINGTON, KINGS LYNN, PE31 6BH. Open 9–5 adm is only £4 with children free. Dogs allowed. Light refreshments will be available and Plants for sale. 

Visitors can explore the two-acre site which was planted in 2016, some plants transplanted from the original site in Snettisham. Created by a dedicated team of volunteers it is a peaceful and invaluable space for residents, staff and visitors. There is a variety of cottage garden plants, perennials and shrubs, and a wildlife area with pond. Produce from the vegetable plot goes to supply the kitchen. Full wheelchair access means that the garden can be enjoyed by all. 

Chief Executive Officer of The Norfolk Hospice, Tapping House, Nicola Ellis says “It means so much to us to open our beautiful gardens through the National Garden Scheme. We use our gardens as part of our holistic care, and the staff and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure the gardens reflect the same sense of calm and wellbeing that the Hospice’s services are known for. This special event will encourage the community to visit the Hospice and see for themselves this incredible resource offering a range of services to people living with a life limiting condition, and their families.” 

Hospice UK is one of the National Garden Scheme’s beneficiaries and during the pandemic were invaluable in lobbying parliament and keeping the hospices open.
