Norfolk NGS Gardens Open in May 2018

The gardens opening in May for the Norfolk National Garden Scheme(NGS)  feature a profusion of vivid colours ranging from carpets of bluebells to bright yellow and orange azaleas and  bold blooms of massed rhododendrons.

Witton Hall near North Walsham, NR28 9UF opens on Bank Holiday Monday 7th May and is a natural woodland garden full of English bluebells and stunning views to the sea.

On Sunday 13th May  Kelling Hall near Holt NR25 7EW opens for the NGS after an absence of 55 years! The new owners have done a magnificent job of restoring the park and gardens with a series of ponds and lakes in a valley setting. There is also a wonderful bluebell walk. The Kelling Estate also own the adjacent Holt garden centre where cream teas will be served.  A discount voucher is included in the £5 entry fee to the gardens. An experience not to be missed!

The gardens at Sundial Farm in Shelton Green, NR15 2SQ are open for the first time on Saturday 19th May. The three acres feature a secret garden, pond and extensive perennial planting. Watch out for the giant topiary faces!

On Sunday the 20th May you have a choice of three gardens to explore.

Blickling Lodge, NR11 6PS has 17 acres of parkland walks together with a walled kitchen plot and woodland/water garden.

Holme Hale Hall, IP25 7ED has an extensive walled garden complete with traditionalgreenhouse and plenty of alliums at their best this month.

The gardens have recently been rejuvenated by Chelsea gold medal winner Arne Maynard.

Lexham Hall, PE32 2QJ always has so much to see and the owners are constantly developing the extensive gardens. Rhododendrons,azealeas,camellias and magnolias are at their best and the wisterias are fantastic!

On Tuesday 22nd May  there is an explosion of colour at Stody Lodge, near Melton Constable, NR24 2ER. The display of azealeas and rhododendrons over 4 acres of woodland and water gardens is exceptional!

On Sunday 27th May Bank House near Marshland St James, PE14 8JT

There are 2 acres of exuberant plantings with irises and primulas the main feature in May with lots more to see, you will come away full of ideas!

Also on May 27th you can enjoy a day on the North Norfolk coast and pop into Warborough House at Stiffkey, NR23 1QH where a stroll through 7 acres of contrasting borders in a sloping garden which offers views across Stiffkey valley and the coast.

All the gardens will be serving the renowned NGS homemade teas and many will have plants for sale.
