Spring Bulbs Star in Open Gardens

Anemones, Crocus and Daffodils are some of the bulbs which take centre stage and provide welcome swathes of colour in the three Spring gardens opening for the National Garden Scheme in Norfolk this month. It is time to get out and start the season of garden visiting. 

Chestnut Farm

On Sunday 3rd March Chestnut Farm West Beckham NR25 6NX, there is an extensive range of spring bulbs together with plenty of late winter flowers and some heavenly scented shrubs. Owners John and Judy McNeil Wilson with an amazing 55 years of gardening expertise are always keen to share their knowledge with visitors. Open from 11.00am to 4.00pm admission is £5.00 and children go free.

The popular and well-known garden at The Old Vicarage, East Ruston, NR12 9HN is opening specially for the NGS on Saturday 9th March. The garden is unique in the huge number of plants that grow ranging from desert cacti to prehistoric tree ferns. Divided into a series of rooms each with its own theme, there are plenty of interesting spring bulbs and other early flowering plants. Open from 12.00am to 5.30pm admission is adults £9.50 children £1.00

Raveningham Hall

On Sunday 10th March we are delighted that the president of The Royal Horticultural Society, Sir Nicholas Bacon is opening his garden at Raveningham Hall, Raveningham near Norwich NR14 6NS. There will be a good display of early flowering bulbs with a variety of shrubs and trees and a traditional walled garden. Open from 11.00am to 4.00pm admission is £5.00 and children go free.



All the gardens will have delicious home-made teas and if you have not already obtained a copy of the free 2019 Norfolk NGS Gardens to Visit booklet then they are readily available at libraries, good garden centres and tourist information centres.
