Norfolks-Cultural-Consultation

Arts organisations across the county are collaborating under the umbrella of a new Creative Communities Consortium for Norfolk which aims to strengthen the arts sector and deliver services that use arts and creative activities to achieve positive results for the wider community.

As part of a pioneering ‘Arts and Wellbeing Programme’ for the county several Consortium members  will research and trial new opportunities for users of Norfolk’s health and wellbeing services to better access creative and cultural activities.

Until May 2014 seven member organisations, including Kings Lynn Arts Centre and Writers Centre Norwich, will carry out a series of creative consultation sessions and an online survey targeting young people – particularly young carers, care leavers and disabled youngsters, and older people – particularly those in care and those living with early onset dementia.

The results of the consultation will inform a number of trial creative programmes aimed at increasing access to creative and cultural activities for some of the most vulnerable within our communities and evaluate the impact that arts can have on our personal health and wellbeing.

The Norfolk Arts and Wellbeing Programme is funded by Arts Council England, Norfolk County Council, Breckland District Council and NorseCare and runs until December 2015.
