Free street entertainment and live music to enliven Thursday evenings in Norwich

Norwich city centre is about to come alive with free live music from local bands and entertainment from world famous Covent Garden street performers.

Launching on Thursday 4 July, the Head Out, Not Home summer events programme – organised by Norwich Business Improvement District (BID) in conjunction with NORCA & Sistema in Norwich – will enliven the city centre with a burst of music and entertainment for 9 weeks (concludes on Thursday 29 August).

Each Thursday evening (weather permitting), across six different city centre locations between 16:40 and 20:00 there will be something for the entire family to enjoy.

Visitors to the city can expect to see Gentleman’s Walk, London Street, St Gregory’s Green, Westlegate/Ber Street and new for 2019 (alternative weeks) Upper Close Green, Cathedral grounds and Riverside all buzzing with vibrant music and street entertainment.

Covent Garden street performer, William Sanchez will kick start proceedings at 16:40 on London Street where he will wow with his break dancing skills.  He will be joined at locations around the city with live music from Impilo, Alden Paterson & Dashwood and Sam Eagle.  Access to Music will also present six up and coming young musicians.

Stefan Gurney, Executive Director of Norwich BID said, “The Head Out, Not Home extravaganza is now in its seventh year and during that time has established itself as a major cultural entertainment festival in the city centre’s calendar and has a keen following!  We’re looking forward to welcoming the vast array of vibrant musicians and street performers to Norwich this summer.  Thursday evenings for the next 9 weeks are not to be missed, there will be plenty to see and do, remember to Head Out, Not Home and have some fun.”

Wild Paths presents Sam Eagle -19 year-old Sam, is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who brings jazzy, left field pop tunes to the indie genre.

Gentleman’s Walk – 17:00, 18:10, 19:20
Impilo – Hailing from Ipswich, Impilo bring upbeat and engaging sounds drawing influence from Hip Hop, Funk and Jazz.

St Gregory’s Green – 17:10, 18:20, 19:30
Alden, Paterson & Dashwood – This award winning folk trio weave rich vocal harmonies, fiddle, dobro and guitar around beautifully written original songs and melodies.
