Gurney Surgery

Norwich patients to benefit from brand new GP Premises: at new Gurney Surgery now in Fishergate.

Patients in Norwich will benefit from a modern GP surgery meeting the highest NHS standards thanks to a boost from the NHS England Estates and Technology Transformation Fund.

The £1.2 million grant will see the current Gurney Surgery based on Magdalen Street near Anglia Square move to a newly refurbished healthcare facility in Fishergate. The surgery will be able to increase its clinical capacity in order to meet local population growth, host new NHS medical services and boasts new teaching facilities to train the GPs of the future.

The NHS England Estates and Technology Transformation Fund is a national funding programme to support GP practices to make improvements to services for local patients including more modern, expanded facilities and use of new technologies.

The premises provide one of three sites for Castle Partnership who are an eight-partner practice covering 16,600 patients based at Mile End Road, Tuckswood and Gurney. 5,500 of these patients are registered at Gurney Surgery.

Richard Gilbert, Senior Partner said: “We are delighted to be able to provide these new premises for our patients. It has taken us many years of searching for the correct site and more than two years of development, but the result is a highly specified modern healthcare facility. We look forward to being able to look after our patients in a modern and spacious accommodation, and to be able to expand the range of services delivered to patients in their own surgery. We are extremely grateful for the support we have had from NHS Norwich CCG, and for the funding from the NHS England Estates and Technology Transformation Fund (ETTF).”

Rachel Webb, Director of Primary Care and Public Health for NHS England and NHS Improvement – East of England, said: “The new Gurney Surgery premises will make a real difference, providing patients with a wide range of services in a state-of-the-art facility. We’re pleased to be able to add funding to an impressive project that will stand the city in good stead for years to come.”
