Royal Opera House Education and Dance East
in partnership with the
Royal National Institute for the Blind

A creative dance project for blind and partially sighted individuals and their families, based on the ballet Giselle.

Delivered by Royal Opera House Education and Dance East in partnership with the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB), the project provides the opportunity for participants to express themselves through movement in a safe and inspiring environment.

Across two days of creative workshops participants will work with dance practitioners, Royal Ballet dancers and musicians to devise their own creative response to themes within the story and music of the ballet Giselle.

At the end of the final workshop day there will be a sharing of work to which participants may invite friends and other family members.

Participants will then attend a Family Performance of Giselle at the Royal Opera House. This day will include the opportunity to take part in pre-performance activities including dressing up, ‘have a go’ musical instruments, make-up demonstrations and practical dance sessions. Tickets for the Family Performance are offered at a generously subsidised price of £5 per person and are inclusive of the activities.
