Pop-up Shops Cafes at Dalegate Market

Each Monday throughout the winter, Dalegate Market will be welcoming pop-up cafes.  North Norfolk Coast does Street Food!  And next summer, Dalegate Market will be hosting different pop-up shops each week.

Hushwing Café – www.hushwingcafe.co.uk – will be Dalegate Market’s Popup Café on Monday 4th and Monday 11thNovember 2013.

Visitors are welcome to drop in and try the fayre of the pop up cafes.  There will be a different pop up café each Monday, offering lovely things to eat and warming drinks for the Winter period.  Naturally visitors can also enjoy the shopping of Dalegate Market, for clothing, jewellery, accessories, presents, binoculars, telescopes, wildlife watching kit, pottery, art …

Dalegate Market has been embracing the pop-up shop culture for many years with the very popular Deepdale Christmas Market in December and Deepdale Outdoor & Wildlife Festival in May.  The search is on for other pop-up cafes to supply food and drink on Mondays throughout the winter and pop-up shops for next year.

The pop-up shop culture started in California in the late 1990s, but the UK has been slow to embrace this temporary short term retail format, preferring permanence over change.  However the changing retail world has led to new thinking and a realisation that a mix of permanent and temporary shop units give a more stimulating atmosphere to a retail site.

“Our permanent shops at Dalegate Market offer a wonderful mix of clothing, gifts, jewellery, accessories, wildlife equipment, art and crafts, along with the cafe and we have no plans to change an excellent combination.  However we feel we can add something different, interesting and unique with the addition of pop-up shops to the mix.” said Jason Borthwick, Diversification Partner of Dalegate Market.

Popup shops have even featured on the BBC’s The Apprentice, when applicants did a pretty poor job at running one day popup shops in London.  “We know those running popup shops at Dalegate Market will do a much better job and will really add to the mix of the site.” added Jason.

“Our popup shops will be available from Wednesday to Wednesday each week in high season and we are already receiving applications from potential shop holders.”

All the popup shops on offer at Dalegate Market will be listed on their website www.dalegatemarket.co.uk, on poster at Dalegate Market and across the internet, so keep an eye out for those listings.  Of course Dalegate Market is always worth a visit at any time of year, and now there is even more of an excuse to visit every week.

Applicants wanting to run a popup shop or cafe should also visit www.dalegatemarket.co.uk and fill out the online form.

If you can’t wait until the popup shops in 2014, then the Dalegate Market shops and cafe are open throughout the winter and they welcome over 70 stalls to the Deepdale Christmas Market on Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th December.
