Easterly Artists Studio Trail Back By Popular Demand

Back by popular demand, the Easterly Artists Studio Trail returns to North-East Suffolk in June. Now in its second year and following in the successful footsteps of the 2018 inaugural trail, local artists will be opening their studios to the members of the public to let them look behind the scenes and get a glimpse of the creative process which goes into their work.

Twice as many members are taking part this year, with 13 studios on the list. All are run by practising artists living or working within a 20-mile radius of Ness Point, with studios spread in a circle across the region and including Beccles, Brampton, Bungay, Halesworth, Henham, Kessingland, Lowestoft and Somerleyton. Entry is free.

Visitors will have the chance to view work covering a wide range of mediums, including painting, print-making, screen-printing, collography, artistic wood-turning, ceramics, magical realism and sculptural assemblages using found objects.

Hugh Davies, Easterly Artists Co-founder, commented: “Following the success of the group’s recent pop-up exhibition at the Britten Centre in Lowestoft, many visitors asked where they could go to see more of the exhibitors’ work. The studio trail offers the perfect opportunity to meet the artists in their own studios on a one-to-one basis, and understand how they actually go about creating their work.”

Studios are open 11am-5pm, every weekend throughout June. Note that not every artist is open every weekend, so it’s important for visitors to check dates before they travel. Visitors can pick up a trail leaflet with all the details from libraries, cafes, tourist centres and galleries, or download a copy from the Easterly Artists website. It includes a handy map to help plan their journey and, new for this year, also lists nearby pubs or restaurants where visitors can stop for refreshment en route.
