The 2009 East Anglian Dragon Boat Festival was held in aid of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) and winners of the charity trophy plus one day use of the leisure club and pool, gym use with a group personal trainer and a light lunch at the Marriott Sprowston Manor in Norwich plus a Chinese banquet at the China Diner in Lowestoft were the ‘Valhall Vikings’ from SLP Engineering & The BP Valhall Redevelopment Project. They raised £3,385 of a grand Festival total so far estimated at over £15,500.

Carol Lester of organisers, Gable Events, said “It was a fabulous day and the feedback from all the Festival crews and visitors has been excellent. It was great to see so many local people enjoying themselves down at Nicholas Everitt Park, watching the racing and taking part in the bankside activities. The enthusiasm shown by the crews was superb and we are pleased the Dragon Boat Festival has become such an eagerly anticipated annual spectacle in the regional events calendar. We are delighted that so much money has been raised for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices and are very grateful for the support we received this year from The Beach, Suffolk County Council Passenger Transport, Waveney District Council, the China Diner, Marriott Sprowston Manor and the Venue of Performing Arts who put on three spectacular performances for our visitors on the day. We have had lots of people enquiring about entering a team into next year’s Festival which will be held on Sunday 9th May 2010”
