Parham Control Tower during World War Two

Saxmundham Library’s walking book group will be visiting Parham Airfield Museum for their next walk on Sunday 11 August.

The walk starts from the museum car park at 10am.  The aim of the activity is to read a suggested book before the walk and then discuss it with other walkers on the day.

The book for the August walk is ‘La’s Orchestra Saves The World’ by Alexander McCall Smith. The book has a World War 2 connection and is set in Suffolk in 1939. It follows the story of a local woman who forms an amateur orchestra and recruits a refugee from Poland to play the flute.

The day will involve a walk and talk and then a chance to get some refreshment in the Old Hangar Café and browse around the museum.

Anyone is welcome to walk with the group and the book is available from Saxmundham Library or can be reserved from other Suffolk libraries.

For more details of this and future walking book events, contact the library on 01728 652440 or drop in to the library in Street Farm Road in Saxmundham for more details.
