SeaChange Arts present celebrate circus heritage and dance

This weekend sees SeaChange Arts host a pair of events at the Drill House on York Road.

On Friday afternoon, the Monthly Do returns to the venue. A relaxed free family event, the Monthly Do brings a mix of performance, food and activities for a post-school treat.

Amongst the happenings this month are a comic drawing workshop hosted by Stuart Paterson of Essential Sequential. The workshop is part of Roll Up! Roll Up! – a Heritage Lottery funded project to mark Circus250 – the 250thanniversary of circus which is being celebrated around the country this year.

There’s more foot-tapping entertainment on Saturday with the regular Drill House Tea Dance. Hosted by the acclaimed Ragroof Players, the Tea Dance features vintage music from the 20s to the 50s, tea, cake and ‘instant’ dance classes for those less versed in the fancy footwork.

The Monthly Do is free and takes place 4-8pm on Friday 28 September. Tickets for the Drill House Tea Dance are £5 and take place on Saturday 29 September, 2-5pm. Further information and booking at www.seachangearts.org.uk or 01493 745458.
