Southwold Rugby Club Mini & Youth Round Up

The new rugby season started on Sunday for the minis and youth sections  on Southwold Common, it was fantastic to see the common buzzing again on a Sunday morning with lots of familiar faces and many new faces including our new medic Mishy.

Talking to some of the players afterwards they mentioned that they loved being back with their team mates and were looking forward to improving their skills and learning new ones. There was also a lot of talk about the Rugby World Cup.

The Colts hosted Ipswich in a pre-season training match. Despite 12 of the Southwold squad away at the Sundance Festival! we were still able to field a team who, for the most part, dominated. Tired legs against a 30 strong opposition resulted in a few late tries being let in and a final score of 24-19 to Southwold. Notable highlights were Will Debenham (pictured) scoring a hat trick and turnovers from Jobe Brooks. An encouraging KO to the season.

It looks like being a very exciting season with the Rugby World Cup about to start everyone is very enthusiastic, if you would like to come and try rugby then please just turn up at a training session or contact the coach – details of both, for all age groups can be found at www.SouthwoldRugby.Club. Or if you just fancy coming along to watch, then please do we are a very friendly club.

We will also be showing all the England games and knock-out games (whether England qualify or not!) live on a big screen in the clubhouse with food available and the bar open from 6.30pm.
