In honour of her year’s of service in the Black & Gold, Southwold RFC hosted the ‘Sarah Doddington Testimonial rugby match against Sarah Doddington’s selective squad consisting of players Sarah has played along side over the years, some coming out of retirement even mother versus daughter, in aid of raising money for Beccles Stroke Association, in memory Sarah father who died in 2007.

The game was refereed by Southwold’s RFC long serving member ‘Seb Anthony’, this was the perfect opportunity for old and new players to put their boots in aid of a good cause. Although it was staged as a fun day with match officials, water carries and first aiders, the rugby was deadly serious and both teams provided good entertainment to the supporters. Sarah Doddington’s Selective Squad used quick hands and quick running to break up the opposition defence to score a few tries. Southwold Swallows started to gain some confidence and strung a few phases together. Final Score 18-7 to ‘Sarah Doddington Selective Squad.

Sarah Dodddington commented “All players had a fantastic day and the plan is to host an annual charity match and raising the profile for Women’s Rugby in East Anglia”.

The ladies marked the game by holding a raffle and auction. A big thank you must go to the two ladies teams, the referee, and the water boys, supporters and everyone who donated and supported this special cause. The total raised was an overwhelming £580 to Beccles Stroke Association!

Southwold Swallows shall be doing their annual ‘Children in Need’ Pub Crawl Friday 16th November in the local area, once again thank you to everyone who donated last year we raised £708.
