Southwold RFC

Southwold RFC U10s travelled to Welford Road, the home of Leicester Tigers, as the sole representative from Suffolk and Norfolk, after winning the regional competition in Swaffam.

Southwold had got down to the last eight clubs from over seventy initial entrants. Market Harborough were their initial opponents, and after a hard fought match the final score was two tries apiece.  However, competition rules meant that Market Harborough as opening scorers went through, a hard pill to swallow for the lads. In true rugby spirit Southwold then played Old Coventarians, defeating them six tries to nil, thus bowing out of the competition unbeaten.

The squad then had a great afternoon watching the Tigers defeat Exeter Chiefs, and were given access to gain autographs from the likes of Manu Tuilagi, Ben Youngs, and Geoff Parling – Lions all!  The squad were a credit to the region, and showed they could mix it with much bigger clubs teams from further afield.
