Southwold Rugby U11s Tour
Southwold U11s squad travelled to the West Country for their inaugural tour. A total of 61 players and family members had a fabulous weekend that will live long in the memory.
On Saturday morning Bath Rugby hosted the team for a coaching session, and a Q and A with two young players. The team were then treated to Bath Rugby goody bags and foraged for lunch before the main event!
The Southwold U11s squad formed the guard of honour for the huge European Cup clash between Bath and Toulon, both sides packed with international stars. We all watched a competitive and tense match in front of the backdrop of the stunning city of Bath skyline. After the match the Southwold team managed to bag a prime autograph spot, and starry-eyed boys nabbed signatures from the likes of Habana, Basteurnaud, Quade Cooper, George Ford, JJ, Anthony Watson and more amongst a galaxy of star players. The U11s also managed to come away with a Toulon players’ shirt and one of the match balls! Good work chaps!
On Sunday we travelled to the hospitable Trowbridge rugby club, where we were made to feel very welcome. The squad divided up into two teams, and played some inspired rugby, winning all their matches in an entertaining style, moving the ball effectively, running great lines and popping passes into space. The Trowbridge coach commented that it was the best rugby he had seen this season, a fitting way to end the first tour of many!
