Norfolk’s top Nurseries will be showcasing their plants and giving expert gardening advice at a ‘Specialist Plant Day’ at Pensthorpe Wildlife and Gardens on Saturday 15th September 2012 from 10am to 5pm.

Held in association with the Norfolk Nursery Network, visitors will be able to buy unusual, rare and traditional favourites for the garden, pick up something special and speak to expert growers from across the region to get the best practical advice.

An ideal opportunity to get autumn garden advice, the event will include talks from horticultural experts and tours of the Millennium Garden, now in optimum condition, from Imogen Checketts, Pensthorpe’s Head Gardener.

Pensthorpe’s Event Manager Kirsty Willingham comments:

“September is a fantastic month for planning and planting in the garden and this event will give people advice on what to plant, get inspired and creative in the garden and discover new plants. Along with traditional offerings, there will be ornamental grasses, salvia, jug plants and rare perennials. Plus, it’s an ideal time of year to see the gardens at Pensthorpe in their prime, including the Millennium Garden.”

Entry to the plant fair is £2.00 per person with money raised being donated to the East Anglian Childrens Hospices (EACH). There is discounted entry into the reserve for those attending the fair.

Chairman of Norfolk Nursery Network, Jim Paine said:

“For the second year running Pensthorpe will be hosting a must-see autumn event for all gardening enthusiasts. All the NNN nurseries will be displaying and selling a wonderful selection of plants that will bring late summer and autumn colour, interest and impact to any garden.

The stalls will be staffed by experts who will able to advise on any gardening topic, from choosing the right plants to pruning tips. There will also be talks throughout the day and a range of stalls making this the complete garden show whether you are a complete novice or a seasoned veteran.”

Attendees from across the region include Creake Plant Centre, Hoecroft Plants, The Plantsman’s Preference, Read’s Nursery, Norfolk Herbs, Urban Jungle, Thorncroft Clematis, Romantic Garden Nursery, Woodgate Nursery, Walnut Tree Garden Nursery and West Acre Gardens.

The guided walks of the Millennium Garden by Imogen will commence at approximately 11.30am and 2.00pm from the Viewing Gallery.
