Visit North Norfolk lists some of its top 2013 Halloween events:

Freaked out by the smallest of spiders? Then get ready to be spooked at Holkham Halloween Horrors from 27 to 31 October when spiders of all shapes and sizes will invade the hall and gardens. A giant web maze will be woven on the grass in the walled gardens and craft activities to make an eight-legged creature will guarantee a reminder of terrifying encounters. Prices from £7 to £12 for adults and £3.50 to £6 for children depending on activity.

For grown-ups, Holkham Hall is hosting a spine-tingling tale of mystery, mayham and murder at a theatre production of ‘Her Lady’s Revenge’ on October 30 and 31. Revel in a spooky tale of ghosts from the past and brutal experiments in the sanatorium! £18 per person and not suitable for under 14’s.

Snaggle

Make slitherigrub cocoons out of willow and paper and take part in a search through the woods for the chief BeWILDerBat at BeWILDerwood’s Snagglefang’s Spooky Spectacular between 26 October and 3 November. Join in with one of two daily performances of the BeWILDerbats story, plus an unnmissable performance of The Nutbug Crunch Hunt on the storytelling stage. In addition, make crafts in the Big Hat, see a blazing bonfire and try out the new steepier Slippery Slope. Included in general admission. Adults £13.50 and children £11.50. People under 92cm go free.

PrimEVIL

Watch out for mutants controlling the maze at PrimEvil at the Dinosaur Adventure Park at Lenwade from 6pm to 11pm. There’s also screaming woods and a labyrinth of dark with bloodshot eyes, cold fingers and breathing on necks providing a spine-tingling experience at every turn! All of this is set amongst 100 acres of woods which is home to an array of dinosaurs and a T-REX! 

Dare to ride on the Ghost Train? The North Norfolk Railway’s famous Poppy Line will be having a spooky Hallowe’en week over half term, with Weybourne Station turned into a Halloween Hall and a haunt of witches, warlocks, shuddering spiders and ghouls and goblins on-board the train. The ghost train will follow its usual timetable departing from Sheringham and Holt.  Rover tickets: £11 for adults and children £7.50.

Discover bugs, beasts and bats at Trick or Tweet  at Pensthorpe Wildlife & Gardens, near Fakenham from 26 October to 3 November. A self-guided scary Bug Walk around the reserve will spook little ones, as well as teaching them about local history and the natural world. There will also be some spooky stories on offer too! The event is included in regular ticket price of £10.75 for adults and £7.50 for children.

From 26 October – 3 November, Davenport’s Spooky Spectacular Hallowe’en will feature ghostly goings-on and some rather unusual staff! Visitors of all ages are invited to dress for Hallowe’en and photograph themselves in the Creepy Corner. Entries posted on Davenport’s Magic Kingdom’s Facebook page will be judged, and the best will receive a Magic Emporium Goody Bag to the value of £20. From 1 October, Davenport’s Magic Kingdom opens to the public at weekends and daily during the half-term school holiday. Groups, schools and parties are welcome seven days a week.

A bonfire and fireworks display at Deer’s Glade on Saturday 2 November 2013 will help to raise funds for this year’s charity, ‘About with Friends’. The itinerary for the evening is:

6:00pm – gates open
6.30pm – candlelit procession from Deer’s Glade Caravan & Camping Park
7:00pm – bonfire lit
7:30pm – firework display

Hot and cold food is available, including hog roast, soup, curry, cakes and snacks. Drinks available include beer, wine, soft drinks, tea and coffee. Last year raised in excess of £2,000 for ‘About with Friends’, which is a registered Charity based in North Norfolk that gives support to people with learning difficulties. Call 01263 768633 and get in early to book a pitch and avoid disappointment.

The Fakenham & District Chamber of Trade & Commerce arranges and sponsors the annual town fireworks display, which takes place at Fakenham Racecourse on the weekend nearest Guy Fawkes Night and this year it will be held on Saturday 2 November. It’s a well-organised and terrifically popular family event which attracts a multitude of visitors from far and wide and is one of the county’s biggest firework events that also raises funds for local organisations and charities. Admission is £16 per car of five people or less or £13 if bought in advance (call Diane Shilling, Secretary, on 07817 426283), or £5 per pedestrian. The gates to the Racecourse open at 5pm and the event starts at 6.30pm.
