Daffodils, Tulips, Fritillaries and spring blossom are a sure sign that spring has arrived and during April The National Garden Scheme in Norfolk has three pretty gardens showcasing these popular flowers with plenty of other features to attract visitors.
Wretham Lodge at East Wretham, IP24 1RL opens on Easter Sunday 1st April and Bank Holiday Monday 2nd April 2018 where you can wander through a meadow full of fritillaries and seek out hellebores and a multi-coloured display of species tulips in the walled garden.
16 Witton Lane at Little Plumstead, NR13 5DL on Sunday April 8th squeezes a fantastic range of spring bulbs into a tiny cornucopia of a garden. It includes rare species collected from around the world by knowledgeable owner Richard Hobbs who has plenty of intriguing tales to tell. Plants from the garden for sale.
On Sunday 22nd April The Old House at Ranworth NR13 6HS has a lovely setting by Ranworth Inner Broad. Attractive walled gardens are linked, and contain spring flowers. An arboretum with blossom. Spectacular views of the Broad.
All the gardens will have delicious home-made teas and if you have not already obtained a copy of the free 2018 NGS Gardens to Visit booklet then they are readily available at libraries, good garden centres and tourist information centres.
