MANNINGTON GARDENS

Spring at Mannington Gardens and our 2017 programme of events is about to begin.

Our first NGS opening is always a risk – will there be any flowers? Will it rain, hail or snow? But it does give everyone a chance to see the early garden and to see changes made through the winter; we have opened up an area near to the sales and vegetable garden by removing an old poly tunnel which improves views through to the contemporary garden and meadow beyond.

Mannington Gardens Greedy Goose Tearooms

Mannington Gardens Greedy Goose Tearooms will provide a welcome haven whatever the weather with its quote ‘Come on and in and see if tea and buns make the world a better place’.

April 9th from 12 noon until 5pm.

Last year’s Little Vintage Lover Fair Day was a delight and blessed by fine weather so we are looking forward to another good day on May 7th.

Later in the month on Saturday 20th we  welcome again the Sheringham and Cromer Choral Society who will entertain with music and food at their Garden Party – all welcome.

There will be no Bird and Wildlife Fair this year but watch this space for 2018!

Our Children’s Nature Discovery Days are held during the school holidays with a varied programme of activities – we have been running them for around 30 years so now are welcoming a second generation of young nature lovers.

Our cooperation with the Norfolk Contemporary Craft society worked so well in 2016 that it encouraged us to try a similar venture with the Norfolk Contemporary Art Society for 2017 and works by 5 artists will be on show throughout the summer in the gardens and exhibition room.

Our fairy tales and fables day raising money for Norfolk hospices is becoming another regular feature. This year who can resist dragons and princesses? Dressing up welcome but not essential. Fascinating displays in the Hall and Gardens. Productions by Little Theatre Youth team. Fundraising stalls and games. Refreshments with craft ales .Something for all age groups to enjoy on August 13th.

It would not be summer at Mannington without a production by Rain or Shine Theatre and this year we are looking forward to a magical Twelfth Night on 18th August.

Charity Day in 2016 with added art auction attraction raised a wonderful £7, 552 for EACH Norfolk’s new children’s hospice. However the organisers for 2017 in aid of the MS society have some interesting plans and want you to put September 3rd in your diaries now and bring all the family so they can try to equal this amount to help those suffering from Multiple Sclerosis in North Norfolk.

The fifteenth century builder of Mannington Hall, William Lumnor, was connected to the Paston family  in several ways so it is fitting that there will be a launch for the exciting new 600 Paston Footprints project here in the autumn – watch local press for more details in October.

We continue to welcome family groups not just for weddings but special anniversaries, birthdays and celebrations too – just contact us to discuss your ideas and group visits may be possible out of usual opening hours:
