JumpstART

The exhibition in Lowestoft ‘COSTUME an Exhibition of Clothes as Art’ was a really uplifting occasion. The students had worked hard under the tuition and guidance of some very remarkable artists including Jules Carpenter, Holly Scholfield, Bee Eno, Jenny Nutbeem and Jean Mcintosh. The students designed, printed, cut, and sewed all the costumes on display with great attention to detail. They also had the opportunity to work with a ceramic artist in creating some intricately patterned shoes.

The exhibition was held at a new Arts Café in Lowestoft called the Coconut Loft and was the perfect venue to display the costumes. It ran over 7 days and being a café as well it attracted a wide audience with estimated numbers being in the region of 300.

We also had photographs from the Lowestoft journal and some positive feedback left in the visitors book.

‘Wonderful exhibition. Thank you for letting us be a part of it. Great to hear such lovely comments from people viewing the works’ Richard Toombs. Partner in the Coconut Loft

‘Wonderful work. Fantastic exhibition. Truly a highlight of 2014!’ John Williams

Culture Club

The Barningham Art Group have made the fantastic decision to continue meeting as an independent group. After visiting them this week and having a little look through their sketch books we can see they are a very talented group and have an exciting future ahead.

As part of the Culture Club project we are also going to be running Music and Memories sessions with groups over the next few months. Lead by artists Dean Parkin and Maurice Horhut the sessions will encourage groups to create poems using music as the starting point to evoke memories, emotions and creativity.
