creative workshops

The solstice is just around the corner, and as we approach the new season we’re saying a fond farewell to one project, and a big hello to another. Whilst Lowestoft Folk comes to an end, our new National Lottery grant will enable us to continue our work with adults with learning disabilities for the next four years – we can’t wait to get started!

And as the longest day approaches, we’re off to First Light Festival in Lowestoft to promote our work and deliver free arts activities, we hope to see you there!

Brave Art

Celebrating four more years of creativity for adults with learning disabilities

This week we are celebrating an award of £376,309 from the National Lottery Community Fund to deliver a new creative arts course for people with learning disabilities. Brave Art will offer students in Bury St Edmunds, Lowestoft and Ipswich the opportunity to develop their creative, life and leadership skills. Read more about our Brave Art funding.

First Light Festival

Suffolk Artlink heads to First Light Festival

As the summer solstice approaches, we’re getting ready to head to Lowestoft to take part in First Light Festival this weekend. Join us for pebble painting and a BSL interpreted story and enjoy the festival decor created by JumpstART students. Read more about what we are doing, where we will be and when.

Lowestoft Folk

A fond farewell to Lowestoft Folk

Next month we say a fond goodbye to our fabulous intergenerational project, Lowestoft Folk.

It’s been a resounding success, bringing children from three primary schools in Lowestoft together with their older neighbours to explore their shared folk heritage. Read more about Lowestoft Folk.

Mary Lovett

Meet the Artist: Mary Lovett

Musician, Mary Lovett, brought a touch of musical magic to Lowestoft Folk this year, and we’re glad that she too experienced moments of magic by being part of our intergenerational success story. Read more about Mary Lovett and her work on Lowestoft Folk.

The Suffolk Artlink ‘Rachaels’ have been busy fundraising this month! Rachel B is putting on a play she has written and produced at Layham Village Hall this Friday and Saturday night, with all proceeds going towards our work, and Rachael M is jumping into the Waveney River for an 11km relay swim on Sunday. If you too have a weird and wonderful fundraising idea, we’d love to hear from you!
