This year a Suffolk arts charity benefited from the 2018/19 Suffolk County Council Chairman’s annual ‘Charity of the Year’ donation.

Southwold-based former Chairman for Suffolk County Council, Michael Ladd, recently handed a cheque for over £8,000 to Suffolk Artlink Co-Director, Alex Casey.

From staff quizzes and Christmas fayres to sponsored runs and raffles, staff and colleagues at Suffolk County Council have helped to raise £8576.00 for Suffolk Artlink since last May, during Michael’s time in office.

Alex Casey said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to Michael Ladd and his colleagues at Suffolk County Council for their support. This generous donation will go towards our work developing and delivering inclusive arts programmes that bring skills, support, confidence and joy to people across the county.

“We’re delighted to leave one of our student’s artworks proudly on display in Endeavour House reception on loan as a thank you for the Council’s incredible support for us over the past year.”

Michael added: “I was very pleased to make Suffolk Artlink my Charity for my term of office as I was aware of all the great work they did around Suffolk for a whole range of residents both young and old. My aim was not just to raise money but to also raise the profile of this brilliant organisation.”

Thanks to a special Arts Council funding stream, this donation will be doubled, resulting in over £17,000 being received by the charity as a result of Michael Ladd’s support.
