PressReader
PressReader access

Suffolk Libraries is launching an exciting new eLibrary service this week giving anyone with a library card free online access to a wide range of top newspaper and magazine titles from around the world.

‘PressReader’ provides full online access to digital editions to nearly all major national UK newspapers including The Guardian/Observer, Independent, Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph, Daily Mail, Daily Express, Mirror, Star and many others. A wide range of top UK magazines are also available, covering a broad range of subjects and audiences.

Anyone with a Suffolk Libraries account can access PressReader content from anywhere at any time and it’s also supported by a free app. PressReader is a well-established product which is already available via several other library services.

Paul Howarth, Suffolk Libraries Head of Stock and Content, said: “We’re very pleased to be able to add PressReader to our increasing popular range of eLibrary services and provide more choice to our customers. Our customers can already access thousands of eBooks, eMagazines and eAudio books and they can download and stream music for free. We’ve seen an increase in the popularity of these services every year.”

PressReader provides access to major newspapers and magazines from around the world in their original language allowing residents whose first language is not English to access content in their native tongue.  In addition, it is possible to translate text into other languages, or into English where the original text is in another language.

The service is also accessible to residents with a visual impairment with the option to enlarge and read text aloud.

PressReader is also providing access to The Beano which is the theme for this year’s Summer Reader Challenge so younger readers can access the popular comic online. The Beano is celebrating its 80th birthday this week.

Customers can access as many titles as they wish and can download them to read offline. PressReader will be available to all Suffolk Libraries customers from Wednesday 1 August. It can be accessed via a web browser or an IOS or Android app. There is more information via Suffolk Libraries website – www.suffolklibraries.co.uk/elibrary/press-reader/
