Sun Shines On Norfolk Gardens 2015

In another record breaking year for the National Gardens Scheme (NGS) in Norfolk over £90,000 has been raised for nursing and caring charities by garden owners and their visitors. A total of 66 gardens opened their gates to visitors from snowdrop days in February through to the Autumn colours in October.

This result has amazed County Organiser, Fiona Black, “ I thought the combination of often cool and wet weather during spring and summer  together with a few less garden open days would have had a major impact on our fund raising after doing so well in 2014 when we raised £85,000. I can only pay tribute to the hard work of our garden owners and the fantastic loyalty of the people of Norfolk who came in large numbers to support gardens and our charities”.

Plans are already well advanced for 2016 with a record 83 gardens opening and 19 joining this perennially successful charity for the first time. The National Gardens Scheme is now the largest donor to Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie Cancer Care and Hospices UK.
