Nanna Lay, President of East Point Rotary Club, has raised even more funds to support cancer patients at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

After funding heat pads for patients undergoing chemotherapy, a further donation has enabled the Radiotherapy department to purchase two very specialist mattresses which are used to alleviate pain for patients who are undergoing radiotherapy.

Mark Rose, Radiographer Manager, says:  “These mattresses will be particularly useful for those suffering from debilitating bone pain due to metastatic cancer.  The mattresses are specifically designed to be ‘radiolucent’ especially for x-ray use and are sealed to ensure infection control.”Nanna has also donated funds to refurbish a room used by patients before their chemotherapy to make it more welcoming and relaxing.

Nanna Lay says:  “As a patient myself, I understand how these items of equipment are so useful in making treatment more comfortable.  This money was raised from holding a 1960s night and a Halloween party.  My next project is a 60km walk in Australia later this year.”

Louise Cook, NNUH Fundraising Manager added: “Fundraising is really important and can make a real difference to our patients whilst they are in hospital. Nanna continues to astound us with her energy and determination to raise money which will have an impact”
