There will also be a team relay event for the standard distance allowing people of all abilities to take part and raise funds for CLIC Sargent.

The Honourable Hugh Crossley, who manages the Somerleyton Estate and is competing in the Standard Distance Race said, “We are delighted that CLIC Sargent have become partners of the event and we’ll be encouraging everyone taking part to raise money for the charity. This will be the second year we have run the triathlon at Fritton Lake and we hope to have even more people taking part this year.

“The lake provides a wonderful setting for this exciting event, allowing experienced athletes and keen amateurs to give triathlon a go and have fun, whilst keeping fit and raising money for CLIC Sargent.”

Claire Palmer, Event Fundraising Manager for CLIC Sargent in East Anglia says “Every day 10 children or young people in the UK are diagnosed with cancer or leukaemia. CLIC Sargent acts as a lifeline for these children and their families, keeping them together when the unimaginable happens. Last year we were able to provide support to 239 families in the East Anglia area.

“Our work with children and young people with cancer is made possible thanks to the enthusiasm, energy and generosity of our supporters. We are extremely grateful to the hundreds of participants we hope will take part in the Fritton Lake Triathlon this year.”
