Waveney Art Trail

The eleventh year of the Harleston and Waveney Art Trail will be taking place in North Suffolk and South Norfolk on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th May and the Bank Holiday weekend of Saturday 23rd to Monday 25th May, 11am to 6 pm.

Visitors will be able to see a wide variety of artworks including paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, textiles, assemblage, contemporary batiks, mosaics and ceramics. Twenty four professional artists in the collective who live and work in the Waveney Valley region will be opening their art studios providing visitors with a unique opportunity to see behind the scenes, talk to the artists and exchange ideas without the pressure to buy.  There will however be many works for sale for those visitors wishing to buy artists’ work at studio prices.

Showcase exhibitions to give our visitors a taster of each artist’s work  will also take place during the Open Studios event at the Pennoyers Centre, Pulham St Mary from 16th – 24th May and the Fisher Theatre Cafe and Gallery, Bungay from 15th – 30th  May.  Brochures with a map showing studio locations will be available from various locations from April onwards, including libraries, pubs and restaurants in the region. Full details can be found in the brochures which cancan be downloaded by clicking the image below:

HWAT’S main exhibition this year will be held at the Forum, Norwich from 13th – 17th July.  Most of the artists will be showing work and expectations are high for an eclectic selection of the very best from the collective.

The second planned venture this year is the River Waveney Book Project where each artist will be responding to different locations along the River Waveney, stretching from Brockdish to Bungay.  The diverse collection of artists’ work in this project will provide a stimulating visual record of one of our major Norfolk rivers providing readers with a creative visual  interpretation of a river that has long been the home and inspiration for authors and painters throughout history.   Preparatory drawings and additional pieces of work will be shown at the Waveney River Centre from 14th August to 6th September in conjunction with Waveney & Blyth Arts River Sculpture Trail.
