Turn the page, an international book art and design fair, has announced that its 6th annual event themed ‘Home’ will be held on 26th and 27th May 2017 at The Forum, Norwich, United Kingdom.

Alongside more than 60 artists and printmakers, ttp organisers have revealed that international artist Anna Yevtukh, now based in the UK, will be creating the centre piece for the fair. Yevtukh plans to make a leather bound ‘Street of Books’ which will represent the artist’s interpretation of the quote ‘There’s no place like home’. In making the unique book sculpture, Yevtukh will explore ideas of belonging, habitation and environment.

The reputable event has also attracted multi-talented Barbara Beisinghoff from Germany who makes etchings, artists’ books, handmade paper and installations. She is a well-known artist who has exhibited her work in China, Peru, Israel, Egypt, Korea, Italy and the United States of America.

Founder and Director of turn the page, Jules Allen, said: “Since I established turn the page six years ago, it has grown into one of the top book art fairs in the UK and is highly regarded internationally. We’re extremely excited this year to be exhibiting Barbara Beisinghoff’s work whose career spans more than five decades. We pride ourselves in bringing the ‘cream of the book art world’ to this region for all ages to enjoy and be inspired by.”

Artist Anna Yevtukh said: “I’m honoured that my art has been chosen as the headline piece for turn the page 2017. While developing my design, I have considered many questions such as why do we relocate and move around? And are we pushed out to escape something or someone, or simply in search of a better life or love?

“I believe it doesn’t matter who you love or where you move from or to, you always take yourself with you. So home isn’t a set house or a single town on a map but home is where the people who love you are or a place where you are together. The ‘Street of Books’ sculpture will be my interpretation of ‘where we live, our community, where we belong, and where we drop our anchor’.”

Turn the page (ttp) fair 2017 will also feature:

  • Author Frances Bingham who will read from her novel ‘The Principle of Camouflage’ which is an exploration of place, exile and home. It has been described as ‘A true work of the imagination transporting Prospero’s island, and us to wartime Britain on a shining wave of sea images’
  • The Norfolk Longbook – ttp’s community art project which aims to create UK’s longest concertina book handmade by the public (currently 14m) – due to finish in 2018
  • Sculptural, altered and fine press artists’ books by more than 60 international artists including Camberwell College of Arts MA Book Arts and M.A. in Illustration & Book Arts at Cambridge School of Art, Anglia Ruskin University

She is a member of the Society of Bookbinders, Designer Bookbinders and the local Guild of Designer Craftsmen. Primarily, her books are objects of art, designed from considerable thought, created from passion, eluding energy, and constructed to the highest quality. Each book that Anna makes is unique and has an awe of great design and creation, starting life as a mere spontaneous idea. Anna likes to experiment with different materials and to put them in a new and unexpected context. She devotes considerable attention to her books’ aesthetic qualities. She conducts many bookbinding workshops across the UK and has been a bookbinding tutor at Malvern Hills College (Malvern School of Art) since 2011. Anna exhibits on a regular basis and her work is represented in numerous private collections worldwide.
