March 6-13 this year is Norwich Fashion Week and as usual Norwich Fleamarket will be part of the official programme of events.   At 2pm Sams in the City  will stage a fashion show ‘Eight Classics Three Ways’  with 24 different sized models showcasing how vintage and charity shop finds can provide fashion on a budget.

All the clothes modelled will be available for sale afterwards with all proceeds going to the Samaritans. Cool jazz duet Cafe Warriors will be playing for us on behalf of this month’s charity Musical Keys

Rare Royal Ephemera
Another rare survivor of Norwich history will be at the Fleamarket on Saturday.   A paper napkin detailing the visit of King Edward VII to Norwich on October 25th 1909 is for sale from The Vintage Paper Girls, specialist ephemera dealers who are regular stallholders.   The King’s route started at St. Andrew’s Hall for a civic greeting, followed by a roundabout tour through Norwich.   The napkins were given out with the route printed on them to enable as many people as possible to see the King. The Vintage Paper Girls say “It is remarkable that such a fragile throwaway item has survived all this time.  It is in very good condition and a tangible connection with life in Norwich yet untainted by World War I.”

The award-winning Norwich Fleamarket has been held at the historic St. Andrew’s Halls since 1975 and is the biggest antiques fair in the city.   Dealers from all over East Anglia and beyond offer 100 stalls of badges, books, breweriana, buttons, cigarette cards, coins, ceramics, clocks, dolls, ephemera, fabrics, furniture, frames, games, glass, jewellery, kitchenalia, lace, linens, medals, memorabilia,  metalware, militaria, mirrors, photographs, pictures, postcards, prints, railwayana, silver, stamps, teddy bears, tools, toys, treen, vintage clothes and accessories, vinyl records, watches and so much more.

St. Andrew’s and Blackfriars’ Halls, Norwich NR3 1AU, the beautiful Grade I listed scheduled ancient monument where Norwich Fleamarket, the oldest and largest antiques and vintage fair in the city, is held eight times a year.
