Equip Mentoring Volunteering Matters Lowestoft

Volunteering Matters are successfully delivering mentoring for young people in Ipswich and the surrounding areas, and they are now concentrating on working with young people in Lowestoft.

Equip Mentoring is a free project aimed at 18–25-year old’s who find themselves not in education, employment, or training.

The project aims to support young people by helping them to re-engage with education, make informed decisions about their future career prospects and pathways, as well as helping them to manage health and wellbeing, finance, and housing issues.

Volunteering Matters are looking for volunteer mentors in and around Lowestoft to regularly meet with a young person once a week.

Previous experience has shown that mentors build up a relationship of trust and mutual respect and often, the mentor becomes a positive role model, boosting the young person’s resilience, confidence and supporting them to develop their skill set.

The volunteer mentors receive initial and ongoing training, paid expenses and a network of existing mentors and team members for support. No special skills or qualifications are needed to be a mentor, just life experience as well as a willingness to support someone who needs a bit of help.

Volunteering Matters are also looking for young people who would benefit from having a mentor in their life.

If you know someone who would benefit or would like to apply to become a mentor, please get in touch.

You can contact Sarah Catherall who is the Engagement Manager for the Equip mentoring Lowestoft either by email, [email protected] or calling 07741322544.
