Westleton Wild Flower Festival
and Village Life Exhibition

Westleton Village and its Church work together every year to hold its long running and celebrated Wildflower Festival in St Peters Church Westleton combined with the Village Life Exhibition in Westleton Village Hall. This year the events will be held from Friday July 30th to Monday August 2nd, open from 10 am to 6 pm on Friday to Sunday and 10 am to 5pm on Monday, and admission is free.

The theme of this year’s wildflower festival is ‘The Power of Nature featuring a floral display of local wildflowers depicting a range of natural events from the drama of ‘Earthquake’ to the tranquillity of ‘Sunset’.

This year’s exhibition in the Village Hall features seventeen local groups and bodies that all interact with village life, and these include, as examples, the Art Group, Quilters, Family History Group, Village archives, RSPB, The Forestry Commission and bee keeping.


There will also be different demonstrators showing skills each day. On Friday Lorna Turner will be showing Yarn Crafts, including spinning and weaving, and the demonstrator on Saturday will be Sue Foster. On Sunday Chrissie Davies will be showing two unusual skills, producing sculpture from recycled glass and jewellery from inner tubes, and Irene Stocks will be showing decorative boxes. On Monday the internationally known potter Glynn Hugo will be demonstrating the potter’s skills.

Refreshments will be on sale each day. Afternoon tea will be available at the Vicarage on Sunday. Come and meet Westleton, and see this unique flower festival and village exhibition for yourself.

Chris Miller will present a talk ‘Suffolk Punch Horses and the Colony Stud of the Suffolk Punch Trust’ in the Church at 7.00 pm on Saturday July 31st. Ticket prices Adults (with wine) £7.00, children (under 16) £4.00, or family ticket £20.00, available from the Village Stores or The White Horse Inn, plus a few on the door on the night.
