Wingfield Open Gardens

Gardens for All

Wingfield Open Gardens 2015 will take place 11am – 5pm Saturday 13th June and 12.00 – 5pm on Sunday 14th June.

In 2013 the theme was Horticulture and History. This year there will be a more light-hearted upbeat approach with a trail of twenty-two child and adult scarecrows displayed in front gardens with twelve back gardens open to the public, including the grounds of Wingfield College with its unique eccentric topiary garden.

One of the highlights in this year’s show will be a sculpture trail with professional Norfolk sculptor John Nicholson who works in steel and has previously exhibited at Bergh Apton.  He will be joined by Kally Davidson a 3D textile artist who exhibited work in the Waveney & Blyth Arts Sculpture Trail in the grounds of the River Waveney Trust Study Centre in 2014.  Their work can be seen sensitively set in a large garden surrounded by trees, native hedgerows and open farmland. There will also be the usual favourite gardens and new ones too offering refreshments, cream teas,  light lunches, plant sales and garden crafts.

Wingfield Open Gardens

Although Wingfield is a quiet rural Suffolk village, there are several new gardens opening for the first time by brave residents who have recently moved house including one with displays of three Romany wagons, testament to a real sense of community involvement in the village.

The admission ticket & guide is £3 and can be purchased in advance from the De La Pole Arms, Wingfield in early June and from a central ticket sales area at Marlow House, Garden 2, Wingfield Meadows, Vicarage Road from 11-5pm on 13th June and 12.00 – 4 pm on 14th June.

Admission for under 16s is free if accompanied by an adult.

Follow the yellow road signs and garden numbers for directions in the village.
