Art Exhibition

Peter Baldwin & Maggy Knight

Starts 3rd May 2013

(until 3rd June – including both Bank Holidays)

The east Suffolk coast from Lowestoft to Aldeburgh has a natural role to play in the work of Peter Baldwin. The area has a force and and energy like no other. The wild sky, and sea have been a part of the artists life since he was born into the fairly humble coast guard cottage, occupied by his grandfather the Aldeburgh coastal officer.

By the time Peter was fifteen his early talents as an artist were being recognised and nurtured by a local artist and tutor Jeffry Camp R. A, who at that time lived in Pakefield and lectured at The Lowestoft School of Art.

Established Norwich artists, members of The Norwich Twenty Group were to welcome Peter and it was here that as a very young artist he was to be taken under their wing and the process of developing the talents of this young artist continued.

Maggy Knight showed an early creative potential when in 1984 she too was guided towards becoming a member of The Norwich Twenty Group. It was here that she first met Peter Baldwin. It was many years later that Maggy returned to the group and in 2009, she accepted an invitation to exhibit with them as Guest Artist.

Now she spends time travelling back and forth to Suffolk, extracting meaningful visual dialogue, which is fast becoming a part of her consciousness as a painter.

Both artists will be on hand to talk to at the PV on Saturday 11th May 12noon until 4pm
