After much consideration of government guidelines and with months of uncertainty ahead we have decided that we will be unable to re-open The Quay Theatre fully for shows until January 2021.
With so much to consider, including the safety of acts, staff, hirers and volunteers along with the public, and the possibility of a second spike in Covid-19 cases we do not feel confident of pursuing a programme this Autumn without the possibility of major losses, impeding our ability to continue into the future.
All ticket-holders for Autumn shows will be contacted over the next few weeks with their reschedule / refund options.
We will, of course keep looking at options as guidelines change and will keep you informed.
We have kept busy behind the scenes at The Quay with socially distanced performances filmed live ready for uploading onto our Quay Online website online.quaysudbury.com
Tonight's premiere will be from Sudbury Dramatic Society followed by The Joe Keeley Band later this weekend.
It's worth signing in once a week to see what's been added and what's in store, not forgetting that cheeky little DONATION button at the top of the Home Page as all the acts performing are doing so free of charge to entice you to support your local theatre.
Also, stay tuned for news from our resident 'pop-up' seafood restaurant, Munro's The Fish Dish! News coming soon...

Great news, we can reopen from 25th July! Some of our regular users won't be back until September so we can offer 'one off' slots until then. If you want to book to play table tennis, badminton, short tennis or for any other reason, please contact us and we will book you in to available slots.
We have done all we can to keep the hall covid safe and inline with the government recommendations, including adding hand sanitiser dispensers around the building, new and easier to clean toilet roll holders, etc. We will also need each hirer to fill in an online track and trace booking form before they come into the building.
We will only have 2 courts in use at a time which will allow a safe distance between groups.
Thank you for your understanding.

This month (when it doesn’t rain) is one of the best times to see our woodland insects: from southern hawker dragonflies and silver washed fritillary butterflies, to spotted longhorn beetles and sabre wasps. It’s also brilliant for mosquitoes – so come prepared! 🦟

I selected my object for #NMSLoves years ago, when I had the Happisburgh Handaxe permanently etched onto my skin. It’s one of the best decisions I ever made, and I feel proud to be part of the organisation that safeguards it.

But why this object? First of all, it’s amazingly old, so old that we struggle to even comprehend how old it is. What does 500,000 years ago mean to us, when even 100 years ago can feel like a completely different world? Yet, it’s a landscape that sparks the imagination, where ancient humans stood alongside mammoths and other megafauna. This object gives us a tangible link to its makers.

Our knowledge of this deep history is in flux, with new discoveries constantly rewriting our interpretations. The discovery of this simple flint tool jumpstarted such a change, leading to further discoveries and revolutionising our understanding of humans in Britain. At the time of my tattoo, this was thought to be the oldest human-made object in northern Europe. Now, it’s a symbol of what is still to be discovered, and the impact one object can have.

And finally, like me, it’s a proud child of North Norfolk (although both of us have defected to other parts of the county). It symbolises to me my love of Norfolk, and the power and mystery of archaeology. Hopefully there are many more discoveries out there waiting for us!

We have done it 🎉😃👏🏻🙌a massive team total of 5277 miles has been covered during the month of June, completing our 5000 Mile challenge “June for Janet” ... our café team, family & friends took on the challenge to cover the miles to raise funds for 2 amazing charities (St Elizabeth Hospice & Art for Cure Breast Cancer charity) in memory of my Mother in Law, Janet, who passed away suddenly at the end of March at the beginning of lockdown. She will be greatly missed here at the café, it is so strange without her here now we are back open, bustling around, keeping us all in order! The challenge has been a great team effort, marking the end of lockdown for the café team and very therapeutic for all involved. We are lucky to be surrounded by such beautiful countryside and I hope the team will continue to get out there no matter what the weather does💚💛thank you so much to everyone who has taken part, love you all and some amazing efforts to raise much needed funds for these 2 great causes ❤️still time to donate if you are able to, would love to increase our total as much as possible & a huge thank you to those who have already been so generous ❤️💜💚

Tonight’s the night! #LightItInRed
The recent announcement from the government, pledging support and investment to our industry, comes as a great relief. But theatres still need clear guidelines for reopening, and reassurance that sufficient and timely funding will be made available to the people who need it most.
To highlight the critical position which theatres are facing, the Marina Theatre will be illuminated in red tonight thanks to our partners ETS Wymondham. You can follow the event live online via our facebook live stream from 9pm. Make sure you’ve liked our page so that you get a notification as the live stream begins!
