*Norwich Market set to re-open from Monday 1 June*

The last few weeks have been very difficult for everyone and this includes traders and customers of #NorwichMarket.

As the government announced this week that outdoor markets could re-open from 1 June, this news will have been viewed as a lifeline by the many people who depend on this trade; and customers who rely on the market in day-to-day life.

Norwich Market is a unique and special place and with a variety of stalls and businesses, different layouts and winding aisles - complying with the government guidance does come with challenges.

There will be a general one-way system in operation for customers within the market, and there will be signage in place to guide this.

People are reminded of government guidance that states:
- to keep two metres distance, wherever possible
- people can wear a face covering in enclosed spaces where social distancing is not possible.

It’s important that customers also follow the individual safeguarding measures each trader will have put in place.

Please also use card payments where possible; and that it’s recommended to carry and use hand sanitising gel when out and about, if you can.

For those who've been able to trade in the last few weeks - thank you for adpating services to meet needs. Those who have not been able to trade until now - you’ve been missed and we look forward to seeing your return. To those who still have to wait a little longer for further government restrictions to be lifted before you can return, we can’t wait to welcome you back.*Norwich Market set to re-open from Monday 1 June*

This beautiful sunrise over the river at Thorpe Marshes Nature Reserve is just what we needed this morning!

Thorpe Marshes is a fantastic urban fringe nature reserve situated just outside of Norwich on the River Yare, with Whitlingham Country Park on the opposite side.

The reserve comprises a mosaic of habitats including flower-rich grazing marshes, open dykes and a large body of water in the form of an old gravel pit known as St Andrew's Broad. It's a great place to go if you're a dragonfly enthusiast (or if you just need a more general nature fix!)

Dear Friends & Supporters

We have all gone through the most difficult and challenging nine weeks of our life. It has been an experience we all hope not to have to repeat again, but it has brought out the best in people. The world should be about kindness and we have had a glimpse of this during the pandemic.

We have received enormous generosity from hundreds of people from all over the world who have given us the will to survive because of their kindness. You have all been simply marvelous and words will always fail us on how to express what we feel.

On a human side it has also been a pick-up tonic, if ever we felt down, wary, depressed or uncertain about the future, you were telling us to go on, telling us to be strong because there will be an end to this horror and importantly there will be a future.

There have been days when we have looked at our animal collection, from our elephants to the meerkats and felt, “What will happen to them if we run out of money? Will we be able to find a good home for them, will they settle down, will we have to face such a horrific and unreal situation ahead of us?”. These were very dark days, the days with sleepless nights because of the worry.

The wonderful staff we have here have been simply amazing. There is no doubt the Zoo will be eternally grateful to them for their achievement in these dark days. In some ways they are heroes just like the NHS staff have been.

We have not yet won the war but we are on top with the battle to survive and whilst the going is extremely tough, we hope to see soon – a light at the end of the tunnel which is called salvation.

11 weeks have gone by since we announced our closure and put most of our staff on furlough, but a few of us stayed on – working from home – rescheduling shows, keeping in touch with our customers, paying bills, and generally working hard to keep our Theatre ticking over! Now we’ve made the decision to step back for a short while. To take a little three week hiatus. WE WILL BE BACK! And we should hopefully (fingers crossed) have a clearer idea of when and how we can start to safely reopen.
So, this means that our Box Office will be closed from 5pm on Friday May 29th until 10am Monday June 22nd. You can still purchase tickets, make donations, and buy memberships/ gift cards via our website www.marinatheatre.co.uk. But if you have any special requests, or if you need to speak to someone, please wait a little while and get in touch after Monday June 22nd.
To everyone who has stuck by us in the last few months, buying tickets and memberships and making donations, liking and sharing our posts on social media, and giving us the time we needed to readjust to new working conditions – you’re the best! We couldn’t do this without you. This is only a short interval… we’ll see you in Act Two!

P.S. We want to keep our Social Media pages active and so are scheduling in a whole range of posts which will come out automatically. Team NNUH have achieved another world-first after the first babies to join a cannabis-derived medicine treatment trial were enrolled on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Within hours of his birth, Oscar Parodi was a medical trailblazer. After an emergency caesarean, he became the first baby in the world to join a cannabis-derived medicine treatment trial in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to see if it’s safe and effective in reducing the degree of brain injury for babies with Neonatal Hypoxic-ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE).
We’ve enrolled the world’s first two babies onto the randomised study, funded and sponsored by GW Pharmaceuticals and supported by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), which involves other NICUs in the UK and Europe and will take around a year to complete.
As well as a single dose of the study drug or a placebo followed by some tests to measure levels of the drug in the blood, babies in the trial continue to receive standard hypothermia treatment for HIE where the whole body is cooled down to 33.5 degrees.
Oscar’s mother, Chelsea Parodi, said: “Oscar was in hospital for nine days and he was being monitored 24/7. He is doing fantastically well and I am really grateful to Dr Clarke and the team for what they have done for us.”Team NNUH have achieved another world-first after the first babies to join a cannabis-derived medicine treatment trial were enrolled on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

The Government has produced guidance to help those retailers prepare for opening: www.gov.uk/guidance/working-safely-during-coronavirus-covid-19

As per the roadmap, hairdressers, nail bars and beauty salons, and the hospitality sector, remain closed, because the risk of transmission in these environments is higher where long periods of person to person contact is required.
