Saxophonists of all abilities are being asked to take part in an ambitious project for the Norfolk and Norwich Festival 2011.

Organisers plan to open the festival with a performance by 200 saxophonists, led by jazz musician Andy Sheppard.

“It’s exciting to… get the chance to meet and work with so many local sax players,” said Mr Sheppard.

A workshop for anybody interested in the project will be held at The Garage in Norwich, on Friday, 15 October 2010.

It will be led by Andy Sheppard and provide a rare opportunity for saxophone teachers from across the region to network and play together with a critically acclaimed saxophone player and composer.

Norfolk & Norwich Festival11 takes place between 6 and 21 May 2011 with rehearsals for Saxophone Massive beginning in February 2011.
