aldeburgh-business-association Skating, recently revived at Aldeburgh Jubilee Hall, was a huge success with many school children and youth groups invited to enjoy the fun and exercise (albeit with a few bumps and bruises!) and visitors to the seaside town making the most of an additional activity during their Easter break. Skating-in-2014 Held at the historic Jubilee Hall, built in 1887 to host “Concerts and dramatic entertainments provided by well-known artistes, dances for the little people on wet afternoons and for the ‘grown ups’ in the evenings” the time span is easy to see when comparing skaters in 1971 and those of 2014 in both their styles of dress and the photographic progress. Although, to be fair, we understand that the EADT wasn’t printed in colour in 1971! Skating-in-Jubilee-Hall-1971 The activities were organised by Councillors Marianne Fellowes and TJ Howarth with funding through the Suffolk Coastal District Council Community Enabling grants and additional sponsorship from Regatta Restaurant, TA Hotel Collection, Best Estates, Quba and Salters Pet Food.
