THROUGH THE DECADES – WEDDING DRESS EXHIBITION

Aylsham Parish Church is hosting an exhibition of wedding dresses next weekend August 2nd – 3rd 2014.

Spanning ten decades, the bridal wear ranges from over 100 years old, to the most recent which was worn at a wedding in the Church last year.

Dresses have been donated by local brides and families, many of whom were married in Aylsham Parish Church.

The exhibition runs from 10:00am to 4.30pm on Saturday 2nd August, and continues from 1pm to 4.30pm on Sunday 3rd August.

On Sunday morning there will be a special service in the Church celebrating marriage, and a opportunity for some couples to renew their vows, starting at 10.15am.

Entrance is free, but donations are welcome and will be shared between the Church and the Charity Combat Stress, which supports ex service personnel suffering from mental health issues.

The wedding dress exhibition has been organised by Lynne Dunham, who has worked for months sourcing the dresses and discovering the stories behind them.

The exhibition will also include photos and other memorabilia across the decades.

Lynne would like to thank everyone involved, especially those who have donated their dress for the weekend and have loaned mannequins for the displays of the gowns.
