EXHIBITION FEATURING LOCAL REFUGEES

There’s Something Wrong with the Sky

Mon 23 June – Sat 5 July 2014

GREY SKIES ARE A COLD WELCOME

A FREE two week exhibition called ‘There’s Something Wrong with the Sky’ opens at The Forum on Mon 23 June.

Pencil and charcoal drawings of older refugees who live in the East of England will be on display in The Forum’s Atrium.

And a film telling their personal stories will be shown on the Fusion Screen during the second week of the exhibition.

The unusual title is taken from a comment made by a refugee as he stepped off a plane and saw the grey skies of the UK for the first time.

There’s Something Wrong with the Sky is the work of Norfolk artist Jonny Boatfield and his daughter Hannah Boatfield, who is a film maker.

Hannah says, “The aim is to use art to challenge prejudice and misconceptions surrounding older refugees and to focus on the rich diversity of their experience and their contributions to UK society.

“In the film I also look at the history of refugees in East Anglia. It’s a history that goes back many hundreds of years.”
