Wymondham Abbey Craft Activities

Wymondham Abbey at February Half Term – Craft Activities and Environmental Day

Wymondham Abbey is staging two children’s craft activities events on Tuesday 16 February, 2pm to 4pm and Thursday 18 February 10am to 12 noon.  Sessions will include making art and craft to take home, spring activities, stories, games and music.  Suitable for ages 4 to 11, each session is £5 per child (drink and snack included). It is essential to book; call Esther Prendergrast on 01953 607062 or e-mail [email protected].

Following the recent £2.7m development project, the Abbey has started the process of managing parts of the churchyard as conservation areas.  With volunteers from the town, and help from the Wymondham Nature Group and the Norfolk Wildlife Trust, the new churchyard team will be planting wildflowers, modifying the mowing regime and putting up bird boxes and bug hotels.

On Saturday 20 February, the Abbey is holding the first of what will be regular Environmental Days in the churchyard.  This is a fun event for all the family, but an important one too.  There will be a wildlife survey, recording all the plants and creatures that can be identified, making bug hotels and making compost bins to keep the area tidy.  The Abbey needs lots of people of all ages to help out.  The event is free and refreshments will be provided.  The day kicks off at 10am. If you’d like to help, please call Esther on 01953 607062 to give an idea of numbers.
