aldeburgh-business-association Restaurateur in Aldeburgh for 23 years at Regatta, Rob Mabey has taken over the position of Chair of the Aldeburgh Business Association (ABA) from Business Woman of the Year, Naomi Tarry, following three successful years at the helm. ABA The ABA, which supports businesses in and around the thriving town, has grown from strength to strength and now boasts over 100 active members who benefit from the additional publicity generated through the website and Social Media, as well as the many events supported by the association such as the Christmas Lights, Battle of the Chefs, Soul by the Sea and the highly successful Independents Day, organised to celebrate the individuality of independent shops and eateries in the town.

Local Charities, Aldeburgh United and Assisting Charities in Suffolk (A.C.I.S) who divide the money between St Elizabeth Hospice and Cancer care in Suffolk, have also benefited substantially with over £5,500 raised through events supported by local businesses including a quiz at the Regatta Restaurant, fashion show organised by high street boutique Caramel and member events at The White Lion, Dolphin Inn and The Wentworth. ABA-AGM-at-Aldeburgh-Yacht-Club Members get added value for their money through their affiliation with the Heritage Coast Market Towns Initiative which works with the Leiston, Saxmundham and Framlingham Business Associations and a range of public and private sector partners to develop the overall economy in the region. ABA-Meeting Naomi said “I would like to thank the committee for the time they give to the business community and the members for all their support and encouragement. The ABA has become a beacon for other Business Associations to emulate”. Rob Mabey, owner of the Regatta Restaurant and a pillar of the community added his thanks to Naomi, “She will be a difficult act to follow but I’ve got a strong Vice Chair in Sara Fox from Aldeburgh Market, and look forward to working with her and the rest of the committee.”

Businesses in the IP15 region are invited to attend the next open meeting on 2nd July 2014 and can learn more about the association on the website www.aldeburghsuffolk.co.uk
