There’s a busy week of events at Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden, South Walsham during half term, Saturday, May 26 to Sunday, June 3. The Big Bird Hunt is on every day, inviting families to discover the garden’s birds, using a spotter sheet.

Big Bird Hunt

Wild Touch wildlife rescue from Rollesby will be running a drop in event on Wednesday, May 30, from 11am to 3pm. Wild Touch rehabilitates wild and exotic creatures and will be giving visitors the opportunity to meet some their animals, including a barn owl and a raven.

Also on May 30 at 7pm, there is an evening cruise along the River Bure to view St Benet’s Abbey, returning for hot chocolate in the tearoom. Tickets are £16.50 adult and £11.50 child and include garden entry from 10am. Reduced rate for Fairhaven members. Booking only for the cruise, as there are limited spaces.

Wildlife Warden Trevor ‘Tabs’ Taberham invites visitors to take Walk on the Wild Side with him on Friday, June 1, from 9am to 10.30am. Get inside knowledge about what makes the woodland garden such a unique environment, which is great for wildlife. Booking only as limited places; walk included in garden entry charge.

The regular Summer Saturday St Benet’s Abbey boat trips and tours begin on Saturday, June 2 and run until the end of September. The boat trip departs from Fairhaven Garden at 2.15pm, returning at 4.30pm and includes a 45 minute guided tour of the abbey. Please note this trip is not suitable for wheelchair users due to the uneven ground at the abbey. Tickets are £18 adult and £12 child and include garden entry from 10am. Reduced rate for Fairhaven members. Please book in advance.

Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden is at South Walsham, signposted off A47 at B1140 junction, half way between Norwich and Great Yarmouth.

The garden is open daily all year from 10am to 5pm (closed Christmas Day), and on Wednesdays until 9pm from May to the end of August. Garden entry is adult £6.85, concessions £6.60, children £3.95 and free for Fairhaven members and under 5s. Free entry to tearoom, gift shop and plant sales.

There is wheelchair access throughout the garden, including a Sensory Garden and an accessible boat for trips on the broad from April to October (additional charge). Visitors requiring special facilities are advised to telephone in advance, mobility scooters available.

Dogs are welcome on leads; small charge to cover poop scoop.
