Great Yarmouth Maritime Festival 2008
Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th September

This years Maritime Festival is sure to entertain. If the sea is calling you, explore Great Yarmouth’s very own Lydia Eva, enjoy the Newfoundland Dogs water display on Saturday afternoon. If you’d rather have your feet on dry land, Shanty singing, theatre performances, cooking demonstrations, art, craft and Maritime Heritage is all here to be discovered.

The Port, which is divided into two parts by the River Yare as it goes out into the North Sea, was famous as a major player in the herring industry in medieval times. As the key defensive port on the east coast, Yarmouth was also an important maritime base.

Maritime Festival Feast of Fish Recipes
Cooking demonstrations will be held throughout the festival. Watch top chefs from the region cook up feasts and dishes using Maritime ingredients. Fish kindly donated by Mastersons of Great Yarmouth.

Festival Entertainment
Look out for performers at the Fo’c’sle Acoustic Performance Area, on the Main Stage and in Horatio’s Beer Tent.
